In 2024, SP–Arte celebrates two decades of existence and reaps the rewards of continuous work, reflecting the vitality that the national art market has achieved. With the next edition scheduled for April 3-7, at the Bienal Pavilion, the fair has been a platform that drives the market by energizing the exchange between galleries, artists, curators, and researchers.

The fair’s ability to reinvent itself and the attention it dedicates to its visitors are demonstrated in initiatives such as expanding into the design area, opening Casa SP-Arte, partnerships with cultural institutions, and the creation of an app that facilitates public interaction with the event.

Recognized as a key player in the development of the Brazilian art scene, the fair strengthens the country’s presence in the international cultural dialogue. With a diverse curatorial approach, ranging from established artists to new talents, SP–Arte confirms its role as a protagonist in the global art market at a time when Brazil is experiencing a period of great cultural prominence. This is underscored by the appointment of Adriano Pedrosa – artistic director of MASP and mentor of the Curatorial Laboratory project within SP–Arte from 2011 to 2014 – as curator of the 60th Venice Biennale. Additionally, Italian-Brazilian artist Anna Maria Maiolino was awarded the Golden Lion for her body of work.

The fair’s curation includes renowned Brazilian galleries like Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Luisa Strina, Mendes Wood DM, Millan, A Gentil Carioca, Nara Roesler, as well as a new generation of galleries including Gomide&Co, Galatea, MaPa, Mitre, HOA, Verve, Central, and Superfície. It also features major international galleries such as Continua (Italy), Herlitzka & Co (Argentina), Sur, Galería de Las Misiones, and Piero Atchugarry (Uruguay), as well as RGR (Mexico). In the design realm, notable names include ETEL, Estúdio Rain, Firma Casa, and ,ovo, along with an exhibition curated by Livia Debbane.

The event not only solidifies itself as a fair but also as a cultural hub that elevates visual art and reinforces São Paulo’s image as a vibrant center of culture, art, and innovation. Through its reach, it positions the city as a reference in the global scene.
