Rodrigo Ratton
Belo Horizonte, Brazil
With an extensive collection selected over 35 years collecting Brazilian, international and mainly Minas Gerais art, Rodrigo Ratton creates his gallery to show a particular view of the works of contemporary and popular artists of interest. Between 2018 and 2019, the gallery kept a dynamic schedule with solo exhibitions of Froid, Zé Bezerra, Lorenzato, Maria Lira Marques, Véio and Zezin among other collective and participation in the fair Part.
In addition to a collection with established names, the gallery was founded with the aim of giving visibility and support to early career artists, contributing directly to the local cultural development, as well as creating dialogue between popular and contemporary art. The gallery focuses on the production of artists who work primarily with painting, drawing and sculpture. The gallery's recent physical space has brought together a collection of works that has been built for over three decades from a peculiar look of the gallery owner, making it an increasingly important space in Belo Horizonte, stirring the city's cultural scene.
Acting as dealer Ratton has sponsored rising local artist careers such as Desali, Froid and so many other young artists who are part of his collection.
