Instituto Mario Cravo Neto

The Mário Cravo Neto Institute was created with the aim of fostering knowledge and understanding of the artist’s legacy, including the diverse range of techniques, media and subjects that Cravo Neto explored throughout his life.

In support of this mission, the Institute preserves the artist’s memory and work, as well as forming vital partnerships for the conservation of the work he did over the course of his 47-year career. One example is a partnership with the Moreira Salles Institute, which keeps all his negatives in excellent condition so that all the images he produced can be searched and accessed.

The Mário Cravo Neto Institute also aims to curate representative selections of the artist’s work, bringing it back to the art scene and including it in the permanent collections of major institutions around the world. It is also a resource for reliable and comprehensive information about Cravo Neto’s life and work, ensuring the quality of the publications authorised to reproduce the artist’s photographs, and encouraging individuals and institutions whose artistic and academic endeavours uphold the values of his work.
