Galería de las Misiones
Montevideo, Uruguay
The gallery founded in 1990 is located in Montevideo in a 3 story art deco building in the old city. In 2004 it was opened an exhibition space in Punta del Este, and in 2006 a new space is designed, built, and opened in the exclusive town of Jose Ignacio, 30 kilometers from Punta del Este.
The gallery was opened with a focus on Torres García's constructivism and the School of the South and rapidly became a reference for art buyers in this field for the quality of the works showed in its exhibitions. Later on it has become an important player in exhibiting and promoting Latin American geometric abstraction specially with "Arte no figurativo" group created in the 50s. In the last 10 years, the gallery has published more than 40 catalogs and five art books.
