The São Paulo Gallery, Millan in partnership with Luhring Augustine, from New York and Franco Noero from Torino will inroduce the installation, “Eu, Você, e a Lua” by the Brazilian artist, Tunga in Art Basel’s Unlimited section.
The work is composed of a fossilized tree trunk, dyed in blue and gray over millions of years of its existance. Next to it, two structures hold bronze “fingers” that release a dripping amber liquid. “For me, amber is a tree’s perfume, it is a resin that is produced within the trunk, and in the process of mineralization, it becomes a stone,”says Tunga.
Unlimited is an exhibition platform of that encompasses approximately 80 projects including sculptures, paintings, vídeos, performances, and installations on a large scale.
The curator of the sector is Gianni Jetzer from the Hirschorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C. Art Basel 2016 takes place June 13-19.
