Venha conferir de perto nossa seleção! Jac Leirner elegeu "Hashomon", de Akira Kurosawa, datado de 1950. "Gosto dessa história que narra diferentes verdades de um mesmo crime. São relatos de quatro testemunhas, incluindo o próprio criminoso, um médium e a vítima. O espectador não sabe qual versão é a verdadeira. São todas contraditórias. "Caverna dos Sonhos Esquecidos" é um documentário de Werner Herzog, de 2010. Para o artista Marcelo Moscheta, a obra traz à tona temas profundos. "Esse filme me instiga demais porque trata de questões que me interessam muito, como a arqueologia, a história e a arte. Tudo isso colocado em 3D, como quando eu assisti pela primeira vez, mexe de um jeito com a nossa ideia de cultura e de permanência que se torna revelador do nosso propósito no mundo. Saí desnorteado e com os olhos marejados do cinema, verdadeiramente uma experiência estética imersiva e visual." (imagem: reprodução)
O artista Nino Cais citou filme datado de 1940, do diretor Walter Lang, como a obra que mais o marcou. "Sempre me recordo de 'O Pássaro Azul'. Era incrível poder sonhar junto com esta fantasiosa história, que passava à tarde na TV. O filme é protagonizado por Shirley Temple, que faz uma menina melancólica e que não dá valor às coisas que tem e nem aos amigos. Certo dia uma fada aparece e diz a ela e ao irmão que encontrem o pássaro azul da felicidade – e o animal pode estar no passado, no presente ou no futuro. De alguma maneira, o filme e os diversos personagens vivem em mim até hoje e possivelmente refletem na minha produção." (imagem: reprodução)
O artista plástico José Bechara também entrou no compasso, e escolheu um clássico. "Fico com 'Tempos Modernos', de Charlie Chaplin. Primeiramente porque é um filme muito bonito, de autoria daquele que acho que tenha sido, junto com Picasso, o mais importante artista dos últimos cem anos. O filme oscila todo o tempo entre fantasia e realidade, tragédia e beleza, ingenuidade e um saber meio malandro. Uma hora e meia de poesia rara." (imagem: reprodução)
Para o fotógrafo João Farkas, um dos mais instigantes filmes já feitos é o documentário "Awake, a vida de Yogananda", de Paola di Florio e Lisa Leeman, realizado em 2015. "A notável história deste grande Yogi, que será cada vez mais conhecido ao longo dos próximos séculos, mexeu muito comigo." (imagem: reprodução)

They are stories of four witnesses, including the criminal himself, a psychic and the victim. The spectator doesn’t know which story is true. They are all contradictory. Kurosawa is my biggest idol – I could talk about many other films of his. Long live the cinema!"
“Cave of Forgotten Dreams” is a 2010 Werner Herzog documentary. For artist Marcelo Moscheta, the film brings to mind deep topics. "This film really instigates me because it addresses themes that interest me a lot, such as archaeology, history and art. All this put into 3D, like I watched it for the first time, affecting our idea of culture and permanence, which reveals our purpose in the world. I left the movie theater perplexed, with tears in my eyes; a truly visual and immersive aesthetic experience."
Artist Nino Cais elected a 1940 film by director Walter Lang as the most memorable. "I always remember 'The Blue Bird'. It was incredible to be able to dream along with the whimsical story, which aired on TV in the afternoon. The film is starred by Shirley Temple, a bratty girl who does not value the things she has nor her friends. One day, she is visited by a fairy who tells her and her brother to find the blue bird of happiness – and the animal can be in the past, the present or the future. In a certain way, the film and its many characters reside in me to this day and are possibly reflected in my production."
Artist José Bechara selected a classic. "I choose Charlie Chaplin’s ‘Modern Times’. Firstly, because it’s a really nice movie, written, directed and produced by a person I believe was, together with Picasso, the most important artists in the last hundred years. The film oscillates the entire time between fantasy and reality, tragedy and beauty, naivety and wittiness. 90 minutes of rare poetry."
For photographer João Farkas, one of the most instigating films ever produced is the 2014 documentary "Awake, The Life of Yoganandya", directed by Paola di Florio and Lisa Leeman. "The notable story about this grand Yogi, who will become even more known over the next centuries, really moved me."

Art and cinema in dialogue! Five must- see films, from the eyes of Brazilian artists

Art and cinema have always been a fertile conversation ground. Artists and filmmakers mutually inspire each other, exchange places many times and, with this, maintain the creative space alive free of barriers. With this in mind, we asked five Brazilian artists which film instigates them. Jac Leirner, João Farkas, José Bechara, Marcelo Moscheta and Nino Cais accepted the challenge.
