A New Kind of Immersion

SP-Arte is pleased to invite everyone to experience Latin America’s foremost art fair in a completely new form: an entirely digital one. SP-Arte Viewing Room was developed with great effort by our team to bring the diversity of the physical fair to a virtual environment, and to create a democratic platform, meeting the needs of the system in the moment we are currently living.
SP-Arte Viewing Room was thought of as an immersive platform that brings together exhibitors of the most varied profiles, and works in different media by thousands of artists, including names already well known in the circuit as well as young artists at the start of their careers. We have also adapted our events program to the online environment, offering major activities through which art can occupy the city – this time, entering the homes of all our visitors.
Over the course of the week-long event, the public will be able to view photographs, videos, paintings and works in different media by artists represented by galleries including Almeida e Dale (São Paulo), Carpenters Workshop Gallery (London), Galleria Continua (San Gimignano), ETEL (São Paulo and Milan), Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel (São Paulo), Jacqueline Terpins (São Paulo), Luciana Brito Galeria (São Paulo), Galeria Millan (São Paulo), Galeria Nara Roesler (São Paulo), ,Ovo (São Paulo), Galeria Paulo Darzé (Salvador), Galeria Kogan Amaro (São Paulo), Passado Composto Século XX (São Paulo) and Zipper Galeria (São Paulo).
Just as at that physical fair, SP-Arte’s commitment to promoting national art continues as a priority. Making their debuts in our Viewing Room are independent projects, including 01.01 Art Platform and Levante Nacional TROVOA, which focus on promoting and empowering art from the African diaspora and by Brazilian women.
On each gallery’s page, the visitor will be able to browse through an exhibition with up to thirty works by one or more artists – all facilitated by bold design and an intelligent navigation system. Exhibitors also have various tools, such as the ability to include video and audio, to create a unique narrative in their digital exhibition that enriches the user’s experience. There are over 130 national and international galleries participating in our Viewing Room.
We have also included a rich events program, available for free, made in partnership with our exhibitors and reinforcing SP-Arte’s status as a platform that promotes culture. The program includes online debates, artist talks, studio visits, guided tours of Viewing Room and a calendar of never before seen virtual performances and video art works. New and established artists exist side by side.
There is also a special program run by our partners. Iguatemi assembles the biggest names in the art market to discuss the current situation and predictions for the future. Arte!Brasileiros will introduce a new course with the curator, researcher and visual artist Ana Beatriz Almeida and, finally, Artefacto brings together big names in design to talk about the works that visitors may come across at SP-Arte Viewing Room.
We believe that digital platforms will enhance the reach of the Brazilian art market, for example by opening doors to the international scene even wider, or by reaching new collectors. This is an opportunity to open new territories and to overcome territorial borders, bringing Brazilian states and Latin American countries together in a renewed unity.
We created this platform with a lot of care, thinking about the experiences of our exhibitors and our public. We would like to thank all our partner galleries for their commitment and collaboration in establishing this new territory. We also thank the artists, curators and everyone who so generously made themselves available for this program and for providing profound and critical content for our visitors. We would like to thank Iguatemi, our longtime sponsor. And we thank our visitors, who for the last 16 years have trusted in our ability to assemble the biggest art fair in Latin America and who join us now on this new adventure.
Yours sincerely,
Fernanda Feitosa
