Leda Catunda
Brazil, 1961
Leda Catunda's work is characterized by the use of images, fabrics, and prints that are readily accessible to everyone. As she often says, "I like to like what others are liking." Attentive to the behavior of people around her, to what they are wearing and doing, the artist captures these references and transforms them into raw material for her work, all the while maintaining a tone of critique and acerbity that is accentuated in her cushioned and colorful universe.
